“Altona is soccer!” – the motto of Hamburg’s traditional club Altona 93<\/a> hangs on a black-and-white-red banner above the fan block at the Adolf-J\u00e4ger-Kampfbahn. An architectural and open-space planning competition has now paved the way for this to remain true after 2026, when the club – a DFB Cup semifinalist in 1955 and 1964 – will have to give up its current venue.
\nThe former ThyssenKrupp property on Waidmannstrasse is directly opposite the planned long-distance and regional train station at Diebsteich. The competition<\/a> collected ideas and concepts for the development of a sustainable and future-oriented quarter for work, culture and sports. A soccer stadium, a music hall for approximately 5,000 spectators, office space and supplementary district-related uses such as a daycare center, retail and gastronomy form the most important elements of the large-scale project.<\/p>\n

The design<\/a> by the team of architects Venus<\/a> (Hamburg), :mlzd<\/a> (Berlin) and GREENBOX<\/a> (Cologne) – drawn up in cooperation with the structural and facade planners from L\u00fcchinger+Meyer – was awarded with the 3rd prize. We are very happy about this great success in the top-class procedure!
\nThe main focus of the structural design was on the new stadium building as well as the music hall, which uses the valuable steel structure of the existing building.<\/p>\n
