The new building will be erected on the existing site of the St.Gallen municipal utility. The planning area is located in an area that is significant in terms of urban development and industrial history and is characterized by the power station&#8217;s machine hall (1897) and the fire station building (1969). These buildings bear witness to the industrial development of the district and contribute to the identity of the location. With their competition project <a href=\"https:\/\/lmp-ing.ch\/en\/project\/ersatzneubau-unterwerk-steinachstrasse-st-gallen\/\">STROMFELD<\/a>, the team led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forrerstieger.ch\/\">Forrer Stieger Architekten<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/allencrippa.com\/\">Allen + Crippa Architektur<\/a> makes this valuable heritage visible by organizing almost the entire building volume underground and creating a public space between the historic buildings.
