A string of pearls for Urdorf …

… recognise PENZISBETTINI. Architects on the extension to the Limmattal cantonal school complex. The extension work, carried out on the basis of their «COLLANA» competition, was inaugurated at a ceremony yesterday. The school is preparing for the rapid growth forecast for the coming years, and pupils and teaching staff are delighted with the generous new spaces: two double sports halls, an amphitheatre and modern classrooms for the natural science groups.
The inauguration took place in the presence of the Director of Public Works Martin Neukom, the Director of Education Silvia Steiner and the Rector Andreas Messmer. They all emphasised the importance of the extension for the prosperous Limmattal region and praised the successful completion of the «string of pearls».

The façade designers from LÜCHINGER MEYER PARTNER, who were part of the planning team for the new buildings, were also delighted to be thanked. The main objective in planning the façade was to limit the materials to concrete, mill finish aluminium and glass, supplemented by textile shading elements. Particular attention was paid to structural reduction, for example by inserting the aluminium window profiles into the double-shell concrete construction.
