Raising the Tree, One Phase at a Time

Based on the winning competition entry “Sophie” by Schmidlin Architekten, new buildings are being constructed in Adliswil for the Sihlsana AG residential and retirement centre. The new buildings will provide a total of 60 retirement flats, 96 single rooms with care facilities, and 40 residential studios. The construction is carried out in two phases to ensure uninterrupted operations throughout the entire building period.
Thursday marked the ceremonial completion of the structural works for the first phase of construction in the southeastern area of the project site.

The traditional topping-out tree temporarily crowns the seven-storey building, which is intended for the retirement flats. The structural engineers from LÜCHINGER MEYER PARTNER, who were responsible for planning the reinforced concrete structure with its trapezoidal floor plans, also attended the invitation of the client to the topping-out ceremony.
The project timeline foresees for residents to move into the new building in early 2026. Simultaneously, the second construction phase will begin, with completion targeted for mid-2029.
