Façade Planners on Tour
For once, the façade planners at LÜCHINGER MEYER PARTNER were travelling on their own. The mini excursion took the growing team, now represented at all LMP locations, to the Canton of Bern. The first stop on the tour was the Kaleidoscope, the Stalden school campus in Konolfingen, selected by the organisers. The collaborative effort of our structural and façade engineers, developed in partnership with Ernst Niklaus Fausch Partner, provided the façade planners who had not been involved in the project an abundance of details to explore, while those familiar with the project enjoyed rediscovering the building in operation as a school. Our experts in architectural transparency were particularly fascinated by the circular openings and views through the building.
The excursion then continued to the Botanical Garden in Bern. Under the direction of Suter + Partner Architekten, the renovation of the small greenhouses has now been completed. Our glass specialists were delighted to see the successful result, which was preceded by an initial research project. To enable the structurally necessary upgrading of the existing steel structures while respecting the heritage character of the buildings, LMP developed special lightweight insulating glass units using chemically strengthened thin glass.
