After receiving the Building-Award 2023 and being shortlisted for the Ernst&Sohn Prize, our engineering services for the Felix Platter Hospital conversion project in Basel have once again been specially recognised. Together with our client Baugenossenschaft wohnen&mehr and Müller Sigrist Architekten, we are delighted to have received an ‘Honourable Mention’ in the context of the Seismic Award 2024 from the Foundation for Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering.
The jury summarised the reasons for the award as follows: “With the conversion of the listed hospital building, an identity-forming building was preserved and transferred to a new use as a residential building for the next generation. Extensive interventions were necessary for this challenging project, which required close collaboration between various disciplines, especially architects and civil engineers, and were carefully implemented. “
The Architecture and Engineering Award “Seismic Award” is presented for aesthetically, functionally and technically exemplary new, upgraded and extended buildings. The award honours the client as well as the architects and civil engineers involved.
We would like to congratulate those involved in the prize-winning project “refurbishment and modernisation Remise Brig” (SBB Immobilien, VWARCH and Borgogno Eggenberger+Partner). We are pleased to note that two conservation projects have been honoured. With this decision, the jury emphasises the current relevance of important (further) construction in and with existing building stock.
The two honoured projects are presented in a beautifully designed themed issue of Hochparterre, accompanied by well-worth reading texts by Friederike Braune, Pia Hannewald and Raphael Frei.
