Wind Engineering at LMP

We are launching the new year with fresh momentum and a clear focus on what sets us apart: our specialist expertise in wind engineering. This discipline perfectly complements our core strengths in structural and façade planning, allowing us to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions. Reto Furrer, Head of Wind Engineering, and engineer Adriano Pagliara are your dedicated contacts and would be delighted to support you with expert consulting for planning, analysis, and feasibility studies.
A professional wind assessment forms the basis for safe, comfortable, and economical building design. Influenced by topography, building density, and building geometry, each site and project exhibits its own specific wind conditions. These local conditions have a direct impact on occupant comfort, façade performance, and blind/shading control systems.
By analysing wind flow, blinds can be optimally controlled and the most suitable products selected. This ensures that shading systems function reliably even under high wind loads and that damage is avoided. At the same time, the assessment enables a precise evaluation of wind comfort in the building’s surroundings—an important factor in the design of recreational areas, terraces, and passageways.

For special building geometries, tall structures, or complex urban environments, the wind assessment also provides precise calculations of the resulting wind pressures. This enables targeted structural design and the optimal use of safety margins.

Wind Engineering Services LMP:

  • Development of blind control concepts (centralised or decentralised)
  • Statistical analysis of blind downtime, including solar position assessment
  • Assessment of wind comfort classes in the building surroundings, as well as on balconies and terraces
  • Calculation of wind pressures acting on the building envelope and structure
