One year after the completion of our project Längsbau H1, we were able to finalize the realization of another building on the Zwhatt site in Regensdorf. On the construction field G, a highly pragmatic commercial building was developed in collaboration between Graser Troxler Architekten and LÜCHINGER MEYER PARTNER. The architectural and structural concept was already defined in the successful competition proposal: optimal accessibility, functionality, clear aesthetics, and a strong structural expression shape the design of this “vertical factory”.
To allow daylight to penetrate as deeply as possible into the interior, the load-bearing elements of the six-ground floors are stacked directly above one another. The structural system is characterized by a regular skeletal framework with a high degree of prefabrication. Columns and composite beams with in-situ concrete infill form the primary structure along the longitudinal axis of the building. On top of this, prefabricated and prestressed TT slab elements span 12.7 m, with cantilevers of approximately 3 m on both sides. Horizontal stability is provided by cores made of in-situ concrete.
The façade construction is defined by a raw material expression in oiled steel, combined with an additive tectonic approach and a finely articulated structural grid.
