YES 2024 – Double performance and award

Big Young Engineers’ Symposium yesterday, 3 October, at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. For the 11th time, the IVBH Switzerland had invited to the YES, the Young Engineers’ Symposium. As always, the assembled guests were treated to exciting keynote speeches from experienced experts – this year Eugen Brühwiler and Rainer Hohermuth took to the podium – as well as a panel discussion on the topic of the circular economy. The event traditionally centres on the exchange between young professionals and, in particular, the selected presentations of their projects by the young engineers.
We are delighted that two of our employees were able to share their project experiences on the podium at YES2024. Michael Stirnimann, structural engineer at our Lausanne office, presented the Tilia Tower © in Prilly, which he played a key role in developing.

In addition to the demanding challenges posed by the building statics of the hybrid 85-metre high-rise, his presentation also focused on the innovative sustainability concepts that determined the planning.
The presentation by façade engineer Pascal Joos on the refurbishment of the small show houses at the Botanical Gardens in Bern was linked to the latter in terms of content. Insulating glass unit was developed as both a project and a research project in order to preserve the protected, monumental filigree steel structure as far as possible without reinforcement. The IVBH honoured Pascal for this remarkable contribution.

We congratulate our two participants on the selection of their presentations for the YES podium and Pascal on this special honour!
