Enter Technikwelt Solothurn is Switzerland’s largest interactive museum for analogue and digital technology. The building has a rectangular floor plan measuring 50 x 60 m and comprises a basement, three full storeys above ground and a recessed, elongated attic. A mezzanine floor was constructed in parts of the ground floor. The roof area is used as a visitor car park, which is accessed via an external ramp running around the perimeter.
The main supporting structure is a robust reinforced concrete skeleton construction with a core and a cylinder serving as bracing with a spiral staircase. The supporting structure was constructed using in-situ concrete with prefabricated columns, facade beams and staircases. The ramp and its cross beams, also constructed using in-situ concrete, are connected to the prefabricated columns. The attic and spiral staircases were constructed using steel.
