Rabbit in gold

High rabbit density this evening at the «Museum für Gestaltung Zürich». Hochparterre magazine awarded the Golden, Silver and Bronze Rabbits for «The Best 2024». We are delighted that the Guggach school complex in Zurich was honoured with the «Hase in Gold» in the Architecture category. Congratulations to Weyell Zipse from Basel, who were actively supported by our civil engineers and designers in the realisation of the new school building.

We are pleased to quote from the laudation, which also explicitly mentions the supporting structure. «The building consists of prefabricated columns, beams and hollow concrete planks. The structure had to be as light as possible because the entire school – with classrooms, day care, assembly hall, offices and library – stands on 2-metre-high concrete beams of a gymnasium dug into the ground. Where the gallery widens into a two-storey space, light falls down and the athletes can see the crowns of the street trees high above. The Guggach school complex in Zurich is cleverly organised and sensitively designed. The atrium is an impressive spatial invention that nobody had ordered.»
