The ideal scenario described in the title is not always achievable in the daily routine of work, nursery, kindergarten and school, but it is the very essence of the LMP Family Day. Yesterday, a Sunday that truly lived up to its name, young and old alike gathered at the Hohenstein playground on the Uetliberg. The children quickly scattered to gather wood for the barbecue and sticks for the snake bread. Meanwhile, the picnic tables were filled with tasty side dishes to accompany the barbecue.
Refreshed, the little ones made the most of the wide range of activities on offer at the playground and in the nearby woods: from hide-and-seek and collecting beetles, to blowing soap bubbles and baking fun at the unicorn fountain, right through to plenty of cuddles and walks with the gentle four-legged friend who had come along. Finally, the marshmallow desserts were roasted over the fire.
The parents watched all this unfold with the relaxed calm of a Sunday afternoon; far removed from the hustle and bustle of the project, it offered a good opportunity to get to know one another and share personal experiences about the joys and challenges of family life.
