Whilst the World Cup is in full swing overseas, the talented footballers from Zurich’s civil engineering firms gathered yesterday in Schlieren for the Pohlcon Cup (formerly the Challenge Cup) – with perhaps slightly less ambition, but certainly no less enthusiasm. LÜCHINGER MEYER PARTNER also took to the pitch once again for this footballing showdown. In true ‘Six of Us’ spirit, our team – unfortunately weakened by substitutes and injuries – comprising a structural engineer, a trainee, an intern and engineers showed great passion. All matches were played with no substitutes and, in some cases, with strained ligaments, but with a fighting spirit. Hats off to them!
“Goal at Halle Unterrohr” was the score for our team for the first time in the second match of the day. The goal against Dr. J. Grob & Partner AG came shortly before the final whistle and could not prevent the 1-2 defeat. This followed a 0-2 loss in the opening match against AFRY 2. There was great joy, however, after the final match of the group stage. We secured a 2-1 victory against Schnetzer Puskas Ingenieure, thereby taking revenge for last year’s encounter. We also secured a 3-1 victory in the subsequent placement match against marti+dietschweiler. A conciliatory end to the tournament – in the end, we shared 13th place with Team Emch+Berger WSB AG.
We would like to thank our players for representing our office so admirably, AFRY for organising the event so well, and all participants for a fun day of football in a professional community! Congratulations to the cup winners!
