Looking Ahead and Looking Back – Topping-out ceremony for the Lettenmatt housing estate

The topping-out ceremony for the Lettenmatt housing estate in Birmensdorf on 20 May took place in ideal conditions. Sunny weather allowed the structural framework, with its mix of concrete and load-bearing masonry, to shine, and a tour of the site offered beautiful views across the Reppisch Valley. With the completion of the second phase, the structural work is now finished; the remaining 90 mixed-use and partly age-appropriate residential units in the new estate are due to be occupied in 2027.

To mark this milestone, the client, Milchbuck Baugenossenschaft, invited all the builders and planners to a meal to celebrate the topping-out ceremony together. Thomas Moor from the cooperative’s office conveyed the cooperative’s thanks to everyone involved; these were reciprocated by Miro Semenic from Güntensperger Baumanagement and Jakob Zimmermann from Baumeister linth stz, representing the contractors. In a spirit of mutual appreciation, a convivial and harmonious meal followed. The structural engineering team from LÜCHINGER MEYER PARTNER, for whom this marks the end of a seven-year project, was also in a celebratory mood.
