The 7th fib Congress will take place in Lisbon from 15 to 19 June 2026. As at previous events, the Swiss delegation (fib-CH) will be bringing a hot-off-the-press publication with them, informing the international specialist community about the outstanding achievements in the field of concrete construction in Switzerland over recent years. ‘Structural Concrete in Switzerland’ once again showcases exceptional projects in the fields of building construction, bridges and civil engineering, structural maintenance, as well as sustainability and technology, and provides an overview of developments in research and development – concise and immensely informative for all readers interested in construction technology.
We are delighted that a project by LÜCHINGER MEYER PARTNER has once again been included in the publication. In their article “Conversion of the Felix Platter Hospital, Basel – transformation of a listed heritage building”, the authors Matthias Kunze and Andreas Gianoli provide a vivid overview of this special conservation project.
Following an introduction to the project’s history and architectural concept, the report focuses on the structural engineering and the challenges of construction, particularly with regard to seismic retrofitting and the construction of the two-storey foyer.
We would like to thank the sponsors for their generous financial support of the publication, the editorial team for selecting our project, and in particular Martin Grether for the successful design of the issue and his careful editing.
